Department of General Medicine
About the Department
The Department of General Medicine was inaugurated on February 2021 with 150 teaching beds & 150 MBBS students. Our department is one of the best undergraduate teaching departments, with students engaging in Clinical demonstration classes with the faculty during bedside learning. This department now receives 150 MBBS students.
The General Medicine is made to understand by interactive lecture sessions, small group discussions, self-directed learning and integrated teaching. Clinical classes are being conducted to emphasize the significance of bedside clinical examination that gives the clue to differentials in clinical diagnosis.
We are doing Emergency Hemodialysis and Maintenance Hemodialysis on the basis of patient's treatment preferences from 2021, we are doing Plasmapheresis for Rat killer paste poisoning cases and Guillain Barre Syndrome patients from June 2023, we are doing Renal biopsy from November 2024 and Perm Catheter for MHD patients from February 2025, we are doing Hemoperfusion for Paraquat poisoning patients from June 2024 and we also doing Bone marrow study on and off from the beginning.
We conducted World Hepatitis Day during the years 2022, 2023, and 2024 consecutively. Quiz competitions for undergraduate medical students, general public awareness programs, mass screening programs for Hepatitis B and C viruses among the public, and awareness programs for undergraduate students were the major activities of the World Hepatitis Day program in 2024.
We conducted a CME on “Recent Advances in Intensive Care Medicine” in June 2023.
We conducted the “Diabetes Updates 2025” CME program in February 2025.
